DESCRIPTION:Ontario has dozens of native shrub species\, from dogwoods to viburnums\, blackberries to spicebush\, and everything in between. Where to start in learning to identify them? In this workshop\, spread over four Zoom sessions\, we will cover basic shrub morphology and learn the key ID features of a wide variety of these diverse woody plants. The third session will include a virtual tour of shrubs in the Arboretum’s collections. \nFee:$50 (plus HST) per person.

SUMMARY:Gryphon Rowing Novice Tryouts
DESCRIPTION:Open to students wishing to try competitive rowing\, as rowers or coxswains – no previous experience required. Eligible athletes should not have raced in sanctioned regattas previously. Athletes are selected through a two-phase open tryout. There are two opportunities to complete Phase 1: \n\nSession One – Sept. 9\nSession Two – Sept. 10\n\nBoth sessions run from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Athletics Centre West or Small Gym (TBC). \nEach begins with a brief information session followed by a try out to assess basic fitness (Beep Test). Please wear clothing and shoes suitable for running. Athletes selected to Phase 2 will be invited to an orientation at the Guelph Rowing Club Boat House\, Sept. 11 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (bus transportation provided). \nFor more information\, contact head coach Dave Leger (rowing@uoguelph.ca).
